Every fall, I start looking for petite-friendly dresses that can take you through all the upcoming events and holidays — from casual weekends, family photos, to holiday parties. These four are just a start, but stay tuned for more petite-friendly dresses and skirts for the celebration season ahead.
Let’s get into them!

Four Petite-Friendly Fall Dresses I’m Loving Right Now
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Plaid Skirt + Turtleneck Sweater from Ann Taylor
Nothing says fall like a plaid skirt and turtleneck combo. This one from Ann Taylor feels like such a classic — simple, polished, and cozy all at once.
The plaid skirt fits true to size and isn’t too tight through the hips (which is usually a tricky fit area for me). It’s fully lined, hits at a great petite length, and pairs perfectly with knee-high boots.
The turtleneck sweater is also a perfect petite fit — the sleeves aren’t too long, and the material is thick, warm, and soft. I love the deep burgundy color for fall. To top it off, the coat has a timeless above-the-knee fit and just enough room to layer over thicker sweaters. It’s medium-weight, soft to the touch, and I love the way it looks with skirts and dresses.

Brushed Wool Dress from Tuckernuck
I’ve been getting lots of requests to try Tuckernuck, so I ordered a few things — starting with this brushed wool dress. It starts at XXS, and that size fits me well overall. The dress has a roomy fit and a subtle high-low hem, which gives it a relaxed look. The dress fits me well at the shoulders, and I have cuffed the sleeves.
The brushed wool fabric feels so soft, and I love the stitching details at the arms and buttons. It’s warm enough on its own for early fall, but as it cools down, I love the idea (suggested by one of my readers!) of layering it with tights and a turtleneck underneath.

Black Floral Dress from Kohl’s
If you’re looking for something budget-friendly, this black floral dress from Kohl’s is such a good find. It’s a true petite fit, well-fitted through the shoulders and waist, and fully lined with a sheer floral overlay. There are decorative buttons along the chest.
It does run a little shorter, so if you prefer a bit more length, I’d recommend trying the regular size instead of petite.

Burgundy Floral Dress from LOFT
This burgundy floral dress from LOFT is a pretty fall print. The dress has a sheer overlay with full lining underneath. It’s a straight, shift-style fit — roomy through the body but fitted at the arms.
I’d stick with your true size in this one, despite the roomy body, the fit at the arms would be uncomfortable in a size down. It does cling a little from static as you wear it, so I recommend wearing a half slip underneath to keep it from sticking to your legs.
