Petite-Friendly Neutral Outfits for Work
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Plaid Midi Skirt + Turtleneck
This plaid midi skirt from Ann Taylor instantly caught my eye — the print feels classic, but the fit keeps it modern. The fabric has a bit of stretch, so it’s comfortable for all-day wear and easy to move in. It looks great with heels or knee-high boots.
The skirt runs a little large at the waist but fits nicely through the hips. If you’re between sizes, I recommend going down one. I styled it simply with a neutral turtleneck, but when it’s colder, I’d layer on a coat and boots for extra warmth.

Brown Floral Dress
This brown floral dress from Target is an affordable find for work. It runs roomy overall — I’m wearing an XS, and it still has a relaxed fit — but the tie waist helps create some shape. You could also swap the tie belt for a leather belt for a little more polish. If you prefer a closer fit, I’d recommend sizing down. To be fair, this dress is labeled as burgundy on the Target website, but it looks brown to me.

Chocolate Brown Suit
For anyone who needs a suit for work or client meetings, this chocolate brown crepe set from Ann Taylor is gorgeous. The fabric is machine washable and wrinkle-resistant, which makes it both pretty and practical.
The blazer fits true to size and has a clean, tailored cut. The matching pants have a little bit of built-in stretch, but run very slim through the hips and thighs. That could be a me thing, not a lot of other reviewers mentioned that, but if you’re similar in shape to me, I recommend a size up. In petite they have right around a 10.5″ rise and a 29″ inseam that works with heels for me.

Auburn Pants + Neutral Turtleneck
This outfit mixes two of my favorite things: cozy textures and warm neutrals. The chunky turtleneck from Ann Taylor is a great petite fit — the sleeves hit just right and untucked, it comes to my mid hip. It’s true to size, I’m wearing it in Petite XXS. I paired it with my Auburn pants from my recent Fall Workwear Capsule Wardrobe for Petites. The pants are true to size with a stretch waistband. In petite they have a 10″ rise and a 29″ inseam.
