Thanksgiving is the perfect occasion to dress up a little, whether you’re hosting dinner, gathering with family, or heading out for a holiday celebration. In today’s post, I’m sharing four dressy Thanksgiving outfit ideas for petites, with a mix of dresses, pants, and skirts in rich fall colors and textures.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Velvet Dress from Anthropologie
The Somerset Dress from Anthropologie is one I bought in velvet last year and loved wearing throughout the fall season. It’s such a beautiful option for special occasions, fall family photos, and, of course, Thanksgiving dinner.
I’m wearing the dress in Petite XXS and find it to fit true to size. It’s a beautiful option if you prefer wearing a dress for Thanksgiving and want something festive that doesn’t feel overly formal. You can also wear this one into the Christmas Season.

Satin Pants and a Peplum Top
If you prefer pants for Thanksgiving dinner, this outfit is a beautiful alternative to a dress. I paired the Gemma Satin Pants from Abercrombie with a peplum top for a polished, dressy look.
The Gemma Pants have an 11″ rise and a 27.5″ inseam in short sizing. I can typically wear a 27.5″ inseam with flats, but because these pants have a relaxed fit, I prefer the way they look with a heel. The satin fabric gives them a beautiful drape and makes them feel especially appropriate for a holiday dinner.
One thing to keep in mind is that these pants wrinkle easily. If you’re traveling a long distance or spending a lot of time sitting in the car on Thanksgiving, they may not be the best choice.
For a similar dressy look with a different fabric, I also recommend pairing the peplum top with dark brown corduroy pants or crepe pants from Quince.
The peplum top is another beautiful piece that works well for petites. I’m wearing it in Petite XXS and find it to fit true to size. One thing to note is that the front tends to gape open, so I recommend securing it with a small pin or a temporary stitch to keep everything in place.

Plaid Skirt and a Dressy Top
I found this plaid skirt at Kohl’s and love it! The online listing really doesn’t do it justice, especially with the way it’s styled with ankle boots. In person, it’s a beautiful skirt that can easily be dressed up for Thanksgiving.
The skirt is fully lined with a comfortable stretch waistband and a flowy handkerchief hem that gives it pretty movement. I’m wearing it in Petite XS, and I love the fit and length on my frame.
For this outfit, I paired it with the same peplum top from the satin pants outfit above. You could also style this skirt a few other ways depending on your plans and the weather, I’ll include a few ideas.

Purple Dress and Knee-High Boots
Last is a beautiful purple dress from Anthropologie that has a nearly perfect fit for petites!
The dress has comfortable stretch at the waist, well-proportioned puff sleeves, and buttons that run down the front to the bottom tier of the skirt. I especially love the sleeve proportions. They have a little volume without being overwhelming on a petite frame.
The rich purple color is perfect for fall and makes this dress a beautiful option for Thanksgiving.
I paired it with knee-high boots for a fall-ready outfit that feels a little more casual than the other looks in this post. However, you could easily swap the boots for heels if you want to dress it up further.
This is also a great option if you want something you can wear again throughout the fall season rather than saving it just for special occasions.
