The 100% Washable Silk Skirt from Quince has been a staple in my wardrobe for a few years. When slip skirts first surged in popularity, I had a hard time finding one that fit my petite frame well—but the classic Quince silk skirt quickly became my go-to. The original version comes in a midi length, which you’ve seen me style many times here on the blog. Today, I’m sharing a full review of the maxi-length version as well as the mini -length version, including fit, length, and how it compares to the midi for petites.

Quince 100% Silk Skirt: Midi vs. Maxi Comparison

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Quince Washable Silk Skirts

First, let’s talk about what the skirts have in common. They’re made from 100% washable silk, feel high quality, and come in a range of beautiful colors. All styles are unlined and fairly delicate, so I usually wear them layered. I start with shapewear shorts for smoothing and to keep a tucked-in top in place, then add a simple nylon slip on top to prevent the skirt from clinging to the shorts.

I wash both skirts in the washing machine and hang them to dry. Since they’re 100% silk, they do wrinkle easily. I typically steam them before wearing, and you can expect some wrinkling throughout the day as well. The skirts have an elastic waistband and an easy pull-on fit.

Mini, Midi and Maxi

The silk skirts come in three lengths; mini, midi, and maxi.

Mini

The mini has a 16.5″ length and fits similarly to the other skirts, making it a viable option for petites. I first tried this skirt back in 2023, but it never quite became a staple for me. The length is a bit short for my personal taste, especially paired with such a delicate fabric. It also makes layering shapewear or a slip more challenging, so while I do own this skirt, it’s not one I reach for very often.

Midi

The midi skirt isn’t actually labeled as “midi” by Quince—it’s simply called the Washable Silk Skirt. In a size XS/S, it has a 29″ length, which hits as a true midi on me. I can wear this skirt comfortably with both heels and flats, and it’s easily the most versatile of the three lengths.

Maxi

I initially thought the maxi would be too long for me based on how it fit the model, but I decided to give it a try anyway. In a size small, the maxi skirt measures 38″. With a low 2″ heel, it just grazes the ground. While it’s not a style I’d reach for as an everyday piece, I think it’s a beautiful option for special occasions.
