I’ve been singing the praises of Quince jeans for the past couple of years, and they’ve become a favorite for both me and many of you. While I’ve reviewed them individually over time, it’s been a while since I’ve rounded up my favorite styles all in one place.

I also get a lot of the same questions about them—do they shrink? fade? bag out with wear? So I decided to put them to the test. I ran them through a proper wash (following the care tag—more on that in a minute) and then did a full wear test. I wanted to show you, in real life, how they hold up through a wash and wear.

The short answer? Very little shrinkage and minimal bagging.

Quince Jeans Wash Test: Fit, Shrinkage & Wear Review

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

What Styles Did I Test?

Quince jeans come in two main lines: Bella and Luna. The Bella line features a high rise, while the Luna line is mid-rise. Since I prefer a high-rise fit, the Bella styles are my personal favorite.

While both lines offer similar silhouettes, there are subtle differences in the cuts and inseam options. I’ve found the Bella line to be a bit more versatile overall.

For this test, I focused on my three most-worn styles: the Bella Wide Leg, Bella Relaxed Straight, and Bella Straight.

How Did I Wash Them and Did They Shrink?

In all of my past reviews of Quince jeans, I’ve mentioned shrinkage. To be clear, I’m not suggesting you buy them hoping they shrink to the right length—I share it so you know exactly what to expect.

From my experience, Quince jeans typically shrink about an inch in length over time, along with some slight tightening in the overall fit. But when I paid closer attention during this wash test, I realized I hadn’t been following the care instructions.

The care tag recommends washing in cold water and tumble drying on low—so for this test, I did exactly that.

What I found? They still shrank, but much less. All three styles shrank under ½ inch, with no noticeable change in fit or rise.

Previously, I had been washing them in warm water (not every time, but occasionally) and more importantly, drying them on high heat—which definitely caused more shrinkage.

If you want to preserve the original fit, wash cold and tumble dry low. But if you’re looking for a little extra shrinkage, washing and drying on warm can help achieve that.

Do They Bag Out With Wear?

Of the three styles I tested, I didn’t notice any significant bagging or loss of shape—the photos really speak for themselves. Of course, they do relax slightly with wear (I’ve yet to find a pair of jeans from any brand that doesn’t), but overall, they held their shape well.

There is some variation in denim weight across the three styles:

  • Bella Straight: lightest weight, most stretch
  • Bella Wide Leg: medium weight
  • Bella Relaxed Straight: thickest denim

All three styles have stretch, but the weight of the denim plays a big role in how they feel and wear over time. Lighter denim will naturally stretch more, while thicker denim offers more structure and holds you in a bit better.

The Bella Straight has the most give, the Wide Leg sits right in the middle, and the Relaxed Straight—being the thickest—holds its shape the best over time.

Here’s a look at each style brand new and after a wash and wear:

Quince Bella Wide Leg Jeans

  • Rise: 10-10.5″
  • Inseam: four options starting at 28″
  • True to size

The Bella Wide Leg Jeans have made their way into many of my roundups of wide-leg jeans for petites. They come in four inseam options, starting at 28″. The rise is listed at 10.5″, but in my size 24, I measured it closer to 10″.

These jeans are true to size, made from soft, comfortable stretch denim, and come in 12 different washes—though midnight blue is my personal favorite.

For the wash and wear test, I washed them in cold water and tumbled them on low. They shrank just ¼ inch in length, with no noticeable change in fit. With wear, they relaxed slightly, but held their shape well through the hips and thighs—no bagging out.

In the video and photos below, the jeans are shown new on the left and worn and washed on the right.

From the photos below and video above, you can see there isn’t any noticeable difference in the fit after washing and wearing, which is what you hope to see from a good pair of jeans.

Washing the jeans in warm water and drying them on high heat will shrink them about an inch in length. Here’s how they fit at that length:

Quince Bella Relaxed Straight Jeans

  • Rise: 10-10.5″
  • Inseam: four options starting at 26″
  • True to size

The Bella Relaxed Straight Jeans have a modern, relaxed straight leg and come in inseam options starting at 26″. I often recommend this style to my petite friends who want to try a wider-leg look without going fully wide—many readers feel overwhelmed by wide-leg styles but find this to be a great middle ground.

In the video and photos below, I’m showing both inseams—on the left is the new pair, and on the right is after washing and wearing. In the first video I’m sharing the 28″ inseam option in Atlantic Blue.

With inseams starting at 26″, they work for a wide range of petite proportions. I can wear both the 28″ and 26″ inseams, and I’m going to show you both here. The 28″ inseam is my go-to year-round length—it works as a full-length style with boots, sneakers, flats, and heels. The 26″ inseam hits at the top of my foot, and because of the slightly wider leg, it doesn’t pair as easily with sneakers or boots. For me, this length works best in warmer seasons with shoes that show the top of the foot, like sandals or ballet flats.

These jeans come in five wash options. I’m sharing Atlantic Blue and Stormy Blue here, with Stormy Blue being my personal favorite.

For the wash test, they shrank about ½ inch in length, with no noticeable change in fit or rise. As I mentioned earlier, these have the thickest denim of the three styles, which helps hold you in and creates a really nice shape. They’re very comfortable, don’t ride up, and while they relax slightly with wear, they don’t bag out or lose their shape.

In this video I’m sharing the jeans in the 26″ inseam in Stormy Blue.

You can see a bit of shrinkage in the 26″ option, but just like the wide-leg jeans, the before and after are nearly identical. Overall, these are a pair of jeans that hold up really well through both washing and wear.

Quince Bella Straight Jeans

  • Rise: 10-10.5″
  • Inseam: three options starting at 26″
  • True to size

The Bella Straight Jeans were one of the first styles from Quince that I fell for—back when they hadn’t yet renamed the Bella and Luna lines. They’re a classic slim straight with stretchy, comfortable denim.

Of the three styles I’m sharing here, this one has the lightest-weight denim. Because of that, I noticed it loosened the most with wear and doesn’t hold me in quite the same way the Relaxed Straight or Wide Leg styles do. On me, it reads a little wider through the hips for that reason.

It’s a classic and well-loved style, they’re true to size.

For the wash test, this style shrank about ½ inch in length, with no noticeable change in fit or rise.

You can notice a bit more shrinkage in this style since they shrank closer to ½”, but overall, the change with washing and wearing is still minimal.

Which Style Is My Favorite?

I’m always asked which style is my personal favorite in these roundups. Of the three, I reach for the Wide Leg and Relaxed Straight the most—but overall, the Relaxed Straight is my top pick.

I love the weight of the denim, and they’re incredibly comfortable. They don’t ride up, and they hold their shape really well throughout the day.

While I don’t love the light wash I chose for this post, a 28″ inseam in Stormy Blue is my personal favorite.

Final Thoughts

Quince jeans are high quality, made with organic cotton, and well constructed. They rival many of my higher-end pairs, all at a $50 price point—which is hard to beat.

All of my Quince jeans have held up well over time. I have noticed some fading along the seams in darker washes, but I wasn’t originally washing them according to the care instructions. Now that I’m following the care tag more closely, I’m hopeful that will help preserve the color moving forward.
