Summer Outfits by Color: Red

In my last post with red summer outfits, I went with a rust shade of red. That shade is gorgeous, and my personal favorite, but in this post, I went with traditional bright red outfits. You’ll find petite-friendly red dresses, skirts, and activewear here.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Red Active Skort

My red active skort is from Athleta. I’m wearing it in XXS and it’s true to size. This 14″ skort has built-in 3″ inseam stretchy shorts, and is vibrant red. My favorite feature is the white trim. If you’re looking for a less expensive option, I also love this Amazon skort in red. I paired it with a leather sling bag from Quince that rivals my more expensive Clare V fanny pack. It’s under $100, a little bigger than the Clare V bag and has a back pocket for your phone. If I had to pick a favorite, the Quince bag would be it. I’m also wearing a jersey boatneck top from Quince and all white Hoka sneakers.

Smocked Top

I bought this top in two colors! I’m wearing it in XXS and find it to fit true to size. No gaping at the armholes and the smocking isn’t overly tight, it’s just right. I paired the top with J.Crew High-Rise Kick Out Jeans. They are true to size and have a 10″ rise and a 24.5″ inseam in petite. The white denim is thick and not see-through at all.

Red Floral Dress

This red floral dress from Kohl’s has a wrap style, but it isn’t a functional wrap. It has a clasp at the chest, stretch at the waist, and the buttons are decorative. This dress runs slightly large. I’m wearing it in Petite XS, and it has a little extra room on me, so I recommend sizing down if possible. It’s unlined, but the fabric isn’t see-through, perfect for a hot summer day.

Red Floral Skirt

The same beautiful floral print featured in the dress above is also available in a skirt. The skirt is also a wrap style, but it isn’t functional. The buttons are decorative, and the tie is functional, but it won’t cinch the waist. I’m wearing the skirt in Petite XS and find it to fit true to size overall. I paired it with the same white jersey tank top that I paired with the active skort.

Red Stripe Dress

A comfortable striped midi dress from LOFT. I’m wearing the dress in Petite XXS and find it to fit true to size, but a size up would also work if you prefer a looser fit. The fabric is stretchy and thick, with a little bit of texture at the stripes. It isn’t see-through at all.
