I’m starting to get the hang of these mini capsule wardrobes, and I’ve really been loving the added variety they bring to my posts. Where I used to create just one capsule per season, these smaller capsules let me build outfits around different styles and lifestyles.
So far I’ve put together casual capsules, an activewear capsule, and a work capsule—and for this one, I wanted to focus on a more polished look. Whether you dress this way every day or just have a trip or event coming up where you want to feel a little more elevated, this capsule is for you.
In this post, I combined 10 items (including shoes) to create 20 polished, easy outfits for spring to summer.

A Mini Capsule Wardrobe with Polished Outfits (10 Items, 20 Outfits)
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Aritzia Lodge Shorts Mid Thigh Crepette: XS in dark night navy
The Lodge Shorts from Aritzia are just as great as the Lodge Pants—maybe even better, since the length makes them work for a wider range of petites. They’re made from crepe, so they wash well and are virtually wrinkle-free, which makes them perfect for travel.
I’m wearing the shorts in XS and find them to fit well. They have a drawstring waist and a 5″ inseam. If you prefer a shorter option, they also come in a mini length.
Aritzia Agency Shorts Mid Thigh: 0 in heather matte pearl
The Agency Shorts from Aritzia are polished and an all-around great option. The fit isn’t snug across my hips, and they don’t ride up, which can be hard to find in shorts. They’re well-made, not thin, and have a clean, structured look that feels truly elevated. They aren’t see-through.
I’m wearing the mid-thigh length here, but they also come in a mini if you prefer something shorter. They start at size 00, but I sized up to a 0, which is pretty typical for me at Aritzia.
J.Crew Gwyneth Flounce Hem Linen Skirt: Petite XXS in white
The Gwyneth Flounce Hem Linen Skirt is one of the best linen skirts I’ve found for petites. While most slip styles tend to overwhelm my frame, this one has a flattering fit-and-flare shape with added godet details that add definition and movement.
It comes in petite, so the proportions are spot on, and it’s fully lined. This skirt first launched last year and sold out quickly, so if you love it, I wouldn’t wait too long. I find it to be true to size, and the elastic waistband gives it a comfortable, flexible fit.

Nordstrom Shirred Dolman Sleeve Top: Petite XS in white
This dolman sleeve top is both polished and comfortable. It’s lined, so it’s not sheer, and the short sleeves are designed to sit nicely without gaping at the arm openings. It also comes in petite sizing, so the proportions feel just right.
The fit is true to size, with a slimmer shape at the hem that makes it easy to tuck in. I chose this top because it’s polished and has a unique fit, great for wearing on its own, but it’s still easy to layer with.
Kohl’s Sleeveless Cardigan: XS in navy
This sleeveless cardigan is lightweight and polished. The cropped length hits right at the top of my hips, making it perfect for pairing with high-rise bottoms. There’s no gaping at the arm openings, but I do get a little tugging across the chest at the buttons, so I prefer to wear it layered over a camisole.
J.Crew Petite Garçon classic chambray shirt: Petite 00 in dark wash
I included this top in my very first mini capsule of the season, and I’m trying to carry that idea through each one—building on pieces I already shared instead of always starting from scratch. Of course, inventory and seasonal changes don’t always make that possible, but when I can, I love creating capsules that build on each other.
This classic chambray top from J.Crew comes in petite sizing, so the proportions work really well on a smaller frame. I’m wearing it in Petite XXS, and it fits me well overall. It has a slightly oversized feel, which gives it that modern look, whether it’s tucked in, worn open, or styled untucked for a more relaxed outfit.
Banana Republic Denim Vest: 0
This cropped denim vest hits right at the top of my hips and pairs easily with all of the bottoms in this capsule. It’s a simple piece, but feels a little more elevated than your average basic.
I’m wearing it in a size 0 (the smallest size offered). It’s slightly loose through the chest but fits well overall. I prefer to layer it over a camisole for comfort.
J.Crew Factory Schoolboy Blazer: Petite 00 in white linen
The Schoolboy Blazer from J.Crew Factory is a classic that’s been around for years. This version is a linen-cotton blend, so it’s lightweight and perfect for summer. The fabric gives it a polished look while still feeling relaxed.
The sleeves hit right at my wrist bone, and the blazer has a slightly boxy cut that falls at the hip. It’s an easy, classic piece that works with just about everything.
2 Shoes
J.Crew Audrey Sandals: true to size in patent leather
I purchased and first reviewed the Audrey Sandals a couple of months ago—and then completely forgot to style them. It was definitely time to pull them back out!
These sandals are a great neutral option for more polished outfits. They have light padding at the footbed, and the strap sits comfortably without feeling tight or restrictive across the toes. I find them to be true to size.
Dolce Vita Karlos Sandals: true to size in light tan leather
The Karlos Sandals have a low block heel and thin straps that feel especially elongating on a petite frame. They run true to size, but the straps across the toes can feel a bit snug—so if you don’t have narrow feet, they may not be the most comfortable option.
Any strappy heel would work in their place for this capsule. I think this similar pair from J.Crew would be a great alternative.
